Royals vs. Astros Game Highlights (9/1/24) | MLB Highlights

Today. Ladies and gentlemen, we are happy to welcome back a member of the Astros family that fully embraced Houston during his seven seasons at first base as a pillar of the organization as we entered the golden era of Astros baseball in 2021 he won the A batting title becoming the second Cuban born player to do so as well as the A L gold glove award for first base making him the oldest player to win a gold glove at that position.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back. Two time world series champion Blanco is going to make his 26th start on the season. He has already thrown in 143 and one third innings pitch.

He’s given up only 98 hits in that time. That’s why that batting average leads the American League at 191 but he’s benefited last time out from the extra day rest as Blanco misses with the changeup down and Bobby Witt Jr draws a one out walk. Here’s Michael Massey, the second baseman, 31 pitches skied in the air to shallow left. Pena drifting out Jordan coming in and Jeremy will give way with a big man with a full head of steam for the second out to be a second walk of the inning and the Royals have two on with two out for MJ Melendez. Ground ball sharply button singleton, gobbles it up and flips to Blanco for the final out of the inning.

The Astros work around a couple of walks from Blanco and we’ll be in the bottom of the first and there’s Alec Marsh called up with rosters expanding today.

Big part of the Royals success in the first half of the season. And now he makes his second start, two ground ball outs for Marsh against two tough hitters , a righty and a lefty and that will be a Diaz their catcher. He’s hitting third today two to Diaz and he got him flailing at a sweeper for strike three. And how about a very impressive strike throwing first inning one out of nobody on for Yuli Gurriel who gets a nice hand from the men to make park faithful.

12 swinging a mess tied him up with a fastball inside Loco gets the strike out his first of the game two away ground ball to the left side to his right. The shortstop Pena has it throws to first in time and it’s a 123 innings for Blanco. Jeremy Payne, a leadoff against Alec Marsh Marsh. Looks good so far. That’s a nasty sweeper to get Pena way out in front a couple of strikeouts now for Alec Marsh two up, two down in the second for Marsh, five up five down this afternoon, another payoff called strike three got him looking that is a perfect fastball on the corner.

Six up, six down for Alec Marsh. We go to the third no score. That at bat making quick work out of kyle is be three pitch strikeout for picking up his second strikeout. Now, Tommy Pham with the second Royals at bat off the mound. Pasta Tommy Pham has his first Royals hit and it’s the first hit of the game for either team.

Let’s see if he can do some damage here with two outs.

Ball popped high in the air to center field, easy play for jake Myers. Reynell gives up his first hit of the game but he strands tommy at first base. We head to the bottom and he puts one in the zone and beats Myers four strikeouts for Marsh , eight up and eight down for Alec Marsh. Here’s Duon Astros second baseman.

Today is the DH getting the day off his feet. Mauricio one off the mound could be trouble with Junior can’t make the play and mauricio has himself, we’ll see how they rule it, but I think it would have been a tough play even if Witt Junior fielded it.

They’re going to say that’s an error. Dan on first for altuve Astros still looking for their first hit. Altuve it to left Melendez makes a sliding grab.

Oh, yes, that’s what Marsh needed came hard in left field and got there to make a shoestring catch in left field and end the inning third walk of the game for the Royals. And MJ Melendez is at first with one out, three walks to go along with one hit for he’s ready for me.
